motivation

… or lack therof.
I decided awhile back to crochet and sell the items on Etsy to try to raise some side money to help launch this project. I have been 98% done with my newest project for a number of weeks now, but for some reason procrastinated like mad in finishing it. I finally pushed myself to finish it this morning. I’ve listed the scarf and handwarmers to friends and family first. If there aren’t any takers, I’ll list them on Etsy.
I’m finishing up another simple scarf this week. And I’ll get more yarn. Begin & continue. Rinse & repeat. It’s seriously time to get and to stay motivated. We want more than anything to be self-sufficient. We’re our own worst enemy in making it so.

Things that make you go “hmm”.

This weekend a friend asked why anyone would want to follow this concept we’re cooking. And more importantly, why anyone would want to sponsor us. We have to refine these answers (and not after a glass of wine or two when my thought process becomes a wee bit cloudy). I’m putting it on my BoHub “to-do” list. I know the answer(s), but need to make it more concise & to the point.

Just call me a slacker.
Posted by Erin on November 6, 2009
Ok. I admit it. I’ve been slacking. My mortal job has been sucking the life out of me with time & stress, leaving not a lot of energy left over for BoHub. But, I’m feeling the need & the motivation to get moving forward again. This weekend will be productive. I will get stuff done.
(The positive affirmation is 1/2 the battle, right?!?)

We haven’t forgotten about you, dear BoHub.

We were on “vacation”. And after, DJ’s been out of commission for about a week. I’ve been working my mortal job. But, in the background, things are getting done. We’re working with a fabulous graphic artist who is putting some ideas down on paper (well down on the Mac, but that’s 21st century paper, right?!?). His ideas were freaky close to what we were thinking with only a few sentences of direction from us. Tis a very good sign.
I’m also working on getting the Etsy site up & running. A couple of my talented friends are going to collaborate with me to give an interesting variety of goods. I’m super-excited to get one more spoke of the foundation going.
So, even when we’re quiet here … we’re still moving forward. I am ever reminded of (a Richard Simmons quote, no less):
The path to change has 2 steps:
1. Begin
2. Continue.
And continue, we do.

Bohemain: (bō-hē’mē-ən) pronunciation
“To take the world as one finds it, the bad with the good, making the best of the present moment — to laugh at Fortune alike whether she be generous or unkind — to spend freely when one has money, and to hope gaily when one has none — to fleet the time carelessly, living for love and art — this is the temper and spirit of the modern Bohemian in his outward and visible aspect. It is a light and graceful philosophy, but it is the Gospel of the Moment, this esoteric phase of the Bohemian religion; and if, in some noble natures, it rises to a bold simplicity and naturalness, it may also lend its butterfly precepts to some very pretty vices and lovable faults, for in Bohemia one may find almost every sin save that of Hypocrisy. … His faults are more commonly those of self-indulgence, thoughtlessness, vanity and procrastination, and these usually go hand-in-hand with generosity, love and charity; for it is not enough to be one’s self in Bohemia, one must allow others to be themselves, as well. … What, then, is it that makes this mystical empire of Bohemia unique, and what is the charm of its mental fairyland? It is this: there are no roads in all Bohemia! One must choose and find one’s own path, be one’s own self, live one’s own life”.
(From the American writer Gelett Burgess, on the amorphous place called Bohemia)
